Microsoft.VsSDK.targets throws OutOfMemoryException RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have a solution with several Packages in it. Pretty often when building the solution I get an OutOfMemoryException from Microsoft.VsSDK.targets. Apparently it is the "ZipPackage" task that is making trouble. When getting the exception, I have to restart VisualStudio to be able to work again, which is ennoying.

I am using Visual Studio 2010 SP1 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 SDK SP 1.

Do you have any recommendations what I could change to prevent this error?

    Thanks,

    Claudia

  • Do you have third party plugins installed? I have never seen an OutOfMemory exception in VS and I do quite a bit of development in it. That said, adding third party packages can massively increase overall memory usage, it could be the case that you are VERY close to out of memory before and the SDK build task just happens to be the thing that 'pushes you over' the line.
