Microsoft Visual Studio Stoped working. RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    I am facing issue on starting my Visual studio Express 2013 while starting my application.

    Error Details.

    Problem signature:

    When i checked my windows event log i found this..

    There are many community members have met similar issues as yours, please see

    vs2013 express desktop has stopped working

    Have a try with Jonathanl's solution:

    Block app.vssps.visualstudio.com on firewall or add "127.0.0.1 app.vssps.visualstudio.com" to HOSTS file.

    vs2013 express desktop has stopped working

  • Hi Lana,

    Thanks for your replay this works for me but partially, Let me explain.

    I used below command to reset my setting on some machine before editing my HOSTS file.

    WDExpress.exe/resetuserdata
    WDExpress.exe/ResetSettings

    Now those machine not allowing me to logged in on VS, before editing of HOSTS file with above command.

    Note: We resolve Only those Machine which is already logged in on VS, not reset there password or user data through command.

    Please help me to resolve the VS logged in issue.

    Please download and install Visual Studio 2013 Update 5 from My.VisualStudio.com. My.VisualStudio.com requires a free Dev Essentials subscription, or a Visual Studio Subscription.

    My VS2013 Express crashed after startup. This was just happened from yesterday and previously it worked fine. I tried to repair, uninstall and reinstall, repair .net framework did not helped too. Below is the details of the problem. Please help!!

    1. Block app.vssps.visualstudio.com on firewall or add "127.0.0.1 app.vssps.visualstudio.com" to HOSTS file.

    2. Download and install Visual Studio 2013 Update 5 from My.VisualStudio.com. My.VisualStudio.com requires a free Dev Essentials subscription, or a Visual Studio Subscription

    Please also refer to similar issue: Visual Studio 2013 crashes on startup 

    Many community members solved it by Miroslav Jezik's solution about installing VS 2013 Update 5.

  • I have the same problem after Windows updates (Win10 x64). The download of update number 5 is not available, instead you only get funny circles. Even with the old download experience, there is no update 5 available (only up to 4).

  • No, it definitely doesn't work here in Germany. I have tried it via two different providers. The selection you see on your screen is not available to me.

    If you cannot download the web installer

    1. Reset your settings using devenv /resetuserdata to fix the crash
    2. Open Visual Studio
    3. Use an MSDN product key to activate your Visual Studio
    4. Tools -> Extensions and Updates
    5. Select tab Updates
    6. Install Update 5
