  • - Can I do desktop applications with silverlight?

    -There are 4 types of proyects: wpf, wpf control library, silverlight application (JavaScript) and silverlight application (.NET orcas). I can’t tell the difference between them.

  • Not really. Even if you can host the control in your own container, you still have to deal with local access limitations.

    But you can do desktop applications in WPF. WPF is for Windows machines, and provides for very rich user interfaces and full access to the .NET framework. It has additional controls and the 3d interface that Silverlight lacks. In addition, knowledge in one will be applicable to the other.

    The four project types:

    • WPF: see above
    • WPF Control library: a DLL of user interface controls you create for use in WPF applications
    • Sivlerlight application BLOCKED SCRIPT Silverlight using unmanaged code (script)
    • Silverlight application .NET: Silverlight using managed code (C#/VB etc.)
