Dealing with rich text edit controls RRS feed

  • Question

  • Our farm is MOSS 2007 service pack 3, 32 bit

The developers are using InfoPath 2010, but with 2007 compatibility turned on.

The applications are intended to be browser based usage.

When one tries to paste rich text into a rich text edit control, peculiar things happen.

For instance, if one is using IE 9, and you try to paste rich text including images into a rich text edit control, the rich text goes into the field as expected, and a large space is reserved for the image, but the image itself is not inserted.

If one is using Firefox 10. the text and image do not get pasted into the control. If someone else who can insert the text into the control does so, and the firefox user examines the data, the rich text is removed (if the field is editable).

Are there any work arounds for this so that rich text and images can go into the control and stay, regardless of whether one is using IE or Firefox?

  • Further study reveals that infopath application rich text controls do not support pasting images directly into the box - instead, one is forced to store the image on a web server from which you can publish the image, then include the image.
