"virtual" skeleton for detected object RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Dear fellow programmers,

i'm new to developing with the kinect. I haven't found anything about this, so i'll try it here in hope that someone has an idea to realize this.

I'm working on my bachelor thesis with a service robot which follows a user after recognizing him via the kinect sensor. My task is to make a cluster mode, so that multiple of the robots follow each other and the user.

The easiest solution for the "followers" to follow the robot in front would be to detect the robot in front as an object and overlay a skeleton like for kinect detected users, because following a user (skeletal tracking) is already implemented.

I just want to know if this is possible to do (and if how) or if there is no chance of doing it that way.

I appreciate any kind of feedback!

  • The Kinect skeleton detection will only detect human forms. You may find it easier for a follower to use NFC so some other networking technology that would suit the use case better.
