How to determine whether it is an entire series modification from the GetItem response RRS feed

  • Question

  • The below issues we are facing when working with recurrence modification using Exchange 2010 EWS.

    (1) When a recurrence series is modified how to determine whether it is an entire series modification from the GetItem response?
    (2) When single occurrence is modified the modified occurrence information is available in the ModifiedOccurrences collection.  How to determine the last modified occurrence from the ModifiedOccurrences collection?

    Appreciate your suggestions.

  • You can't track this from the server side as EWS doesn't track changes at the property level. Because Recurrance is stored as a property (and the modified instances as attachments) when an update occurs the whole item (including the attachments) are updated and that's what will be reflected if you looked at the modifiedtiem.

So if you want to track this eg your synchronizing it to a external system you need to track and compare each property to determine if it has been updated.
