Tracking Clipboard content changes for WinRT app running in background

    Question

  • Hi everyone,

I'm working on Clipboard manager application for Win8, and I'm not able to track changes in Clipboard when application is running in background. I'm using Clipboard.ContentChanged event and when I start application with debugger everything is working as expected, but without debugger the ContentChanged event doesn't get fired when app is running in background.

    Thanks.

  • You can check the clipboard when the app returns to the foreground. It cannot use the clipboard when suspended or in the background. Apps don't suspend in the debugger, but will normally.

  • Yes, but the Clipboard's content can be changed couple of times while my application stays in background. I need a solution to catch those changes in background.

  • There is no solution from a universal app for this. the lifecycle of the app doesnt let you. You can post your idea here: https://wpdev.uservoice.com/forums/110705-dev-platform
