Convert Occasionally Connected Device Walkthrough for WiFi network RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have finally managed to get the Occasionally Connected Device http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc488004(v=vs.90).aspx walkthrough working after 4 days of trying using Active Sync and a Windows Mobile 5.0 device. Is it possible to make the device work (sync) using a WiFi network instead of the USB connected cradle? i.e. How would I make the WCF service library available over WiFi?

    Any help appreciated.

    Regards

    Paul.

  • You could look at 3rd party solutions for database synchronization: http://www.sybase.com/products/databasemanagement/sqlanywhere/data-synchronizaton

Or, develop your own client/server application to upload the Windows Mobile database when it comes within range of the WiFi.

  • ActivSync only operates over USB, serial, or IrDa. There is no WiFi connectivity option.

  • PaulH,

Thanks for the information. Do any newer Microsoft sync technologies support WiFi e.g Windows Phone 7 Device to SQL Server on a desktop PC?

    Thanks

    Paul.
