  • I can confirm this problem also.

    The Silverlight iSDK is getting 404 errors for all tiles requested from ecn.tx.tiles.virtualearth.net... it appears to be because it is setting the g=1001 parameter. The AJAX v7 and v6.3 iSDKs still work ok, but these are requesting g=999 tiles.

  • This issue should be resolved. It's possible that your browser has cached the tiles that didn't load for you or the map control.

  • Was this with one of the Bing Maps API's? If not then note this forum is for questions about the Bing Maps development API's and not the Bing Maps consumer site. Use the feedback button on that site.

    Did the issue occur only once or has it continued to happen for the past few weeks? If it was only once then it's possible it was a network related issue on your end.

  • I'd like to hear more details about jsleebing's scenario. I have had my customers complain that my bing v7 map loads a whitescreen. I am not able to recreate or debug the problem though, so it has been difficult for me to find the problem. They did not receive the white screen when we were on v6.3

    Based on what I can gather, it seems to be a timing/loading issue. They usually have a slow internet connection, slow browser (ie7), and/or a slow computer.

  • We have the same problem and yes it is related to teh Bing Maps API. We had this multiple times occuring on several machines today and I assume there is an issue. Any news on this?

  • Have you always seen this issue or has it just started occurring?

  • It started in the last 24 hours but we have seen it on multiple machines and it's a map control that has been flawlessly working for a year and now suddenly has issues.

  • I'm a developer, we're experiencing this.  So on my machine it works fine, for another in our office, it doesn't.  It is just a 'blank' map.  The REST items work as expected though such as geocoding.  The AJAX control just is blank.

    We have numerous end-users seeing this also today.  Nothing channels through our own servers, our end-users' machines work directly with Bing Maps AJAX v7.  Some work, some stopped working.

    Has anything changed from MS's perspective recently?  I just noticed the blog post about new key styles.  Also, is there a website which lists when changes/updates are made to the map control and that lists the changes that are made?

  • We are having the same issue.  No maps, but do see a Bing logo and copyright, so it would appear request succeeds, just no actual map.

  • Same issue here - in addition to the Silverlight map control, this is also affecting maps rendered with the REST call to the following url:

    http://dev.virtualearth.net/REST/v1/Imagery/Map/Road/... etc

    As the original poster noted, this is evident with the official Microsoft Silverlight map examples here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/maps/isdk/silverlight/

    It appears specifically that tiles aren't returning.

  • The outage is spotty because the call to imageryservice.svc is randomly returning either g=1001 or g=999.

  • Same problem exists this morning. Any news from Microsoft? I received a mail that a hotfix was in the making, but I just tried it this morning and the map still shows white. Urgent fix is needed for this!

    It seems that this is related to the sizing of the map. Something must have changed recently that would break this unless the map has a fixed size. Any ideas?

  • I am having similar problems. All of my web applications which use Bing basemaps, have been experiencing spotty service. They will either not load, load slowly, or load with tiles missing. It does seem that if you zoom in the tiles will load.

    Would love to hear if Microsoft has released any updates as well.

  • The map window shows up white/blank since yesterday. When I resize the window the map is seen but as soon as I stop the resizing it is gone again. I have cleared the cache but it looks like it has to do with the 100% resizing. This worked until yesterday - did something change with the API in regards to sizing the map automatically?

  • Hi we are having the same problem in our Silverlight application as well, since late afternoon yesterday.  I tried clearing the cache as suggested and I'm still having the issue.  Thanks

  • Richard,

    My applications seem to be working fine now. Thanks for your help.

  • For those using the AJAX control and 100% width/height. For the white map window, do you see any navigation controls. If not then the issue is likely with your styles on the map div. Note that 100% height requires a little more than simply setting the height property to 100% in CSS. This is a common issue in HTML styles in general. Here is an example application that fits the full browser window and resizes accordingly.

    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

          <script type="text/javascript">
             var map;

             {
                // Initialize the map
    			map = new Microsoft.Maps.Map(document.getElementById("myMap"),
    			{
    				credentials:"YOUR_BING_MAPS_KEY"
    			});
             }
          </script>
        <style type="text/css">

     	    padding: 0;
     	    margin: 0;
