Connecting to a share on a Windows Server 2008 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are selling testing devices which have a Windows CE 5.0 or Windows CE 6.0 based computer running. Our customers want to store result files on a network file server. I have setup connections to network shares using the net use command successfully for hosts running Windows XP, Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) and Windows Server 2003 R2 for our Winows CE 5.0 based device.

One of my customers is not able to get a connecting to a Windows Server 2008.

How must the Windows Server 2008 or the share mut be configured to accept a connection from a Windows 5.0 device?

In this thread http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/searchserverinstallconfigandadminstration/thread/b8f9d862-e67e-44a7-824d-4afa7fbd3d0d is a statement in one answer:

    7. Network Access Protection Microsoft's system for ensuring that clients connecting to Server 2008 are patched, running a firewall and in compliance with corporate security policies.

Does this impliy that we need a firewall runing on Win CE 5.0 ARM based board?
