Kinect and ASMedia USB3 controller. RRS feed

  • Question

  • My problem: Kinect works ok with OpenNI kinect SDK, and not working with MSR Kinect SDK (NuiInitialize failed) on ASMedia USB3 controller, looks like problem in SDK not in controller... Any suggestions?

  • Strange, but if I insert kinect to ASMedia USB3 controller I have:

    - Microsoft Kinect Audio Control (no word Array?!)

    - Microsoft Kinect Camera

    - Microsoft Kinect Device

and I have no Kinect USB Audio...

If I insert kinect to motherboard own controller all devices are ok and all works ok.

  • Did you uninstall OpenNI SDK before installing MSR Kinect SDK? These two SDKs don't play well with each other.

  • No, OpenNI was deleted and all works ok in motherboard's USB2.0 and USB3.0 Nec/Renesas controllers.

  • If you go to device manager, do you see all of the following under "Microsoft Kinect" device group:

    - Microsoft Kinect Audio Array Control
    - Microsoft Kinect Camera
    - Microsoft Kinect Device

And under "Sound, video and game controllers" group:

    - Kinect USB Audio

If you don't see that, what do you see instead?

  • Interesting. I will log this problem with ASMedia USB3 controller so we can keep track of it. Thanks for the feedback!

  • Dear Eddy,

We would like to check this compatible issue.  I just sent an email to "K4WPrtnr@microsoft.com", is it the right email to get the assistance?

    Thanks,
