SharePoint 2013 and Office 2016 support

Question
-
Does Microsoft have an official position on forward compatibility of SharePoint 2013 with Office 2016?
I've seen articles written online of peoples experience with it generally working, but I'd like to know if this is officially a supported configuration.
I note in the SharePoint install guide for SharePoint 2013 only Office 2010 and 2013 are noted, but I'm wondering if that article is just out of date.

Hi ShrPntAdmin247,
If you are using Office 2016 for Office 365 and SharePoint Online, Office 2016 could work well as they go hand in hand.
However, if you are using Office 2016 for SharePoint 2013 On-premise, you may find that some features don't work. If you can get all your apps updated to current, or the same versions, you'll find that previously missing features will work. Since SharePoint and Office are designed to work together, they're often updated with the new version of the other in mind.
So, for SharePoint 2013 On-premise, I don't suggest you use Office 2016 in case that some features doesn't work.
