WP 7 app fails because of Bing Maps usage - but I'm not using Bing maps RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

My app failed certification with the following error:

"Your app uses the Bing Maps Silverlight Control for Windows Phone.  Bing Maps is not supported for Group 1 countries at this time. You may resubmit your app and deselect Group 1 country(s)."

The issue is that I'm NOT using the Bing Maps control. Why does certification detect this then?

I'm using some external libraries that might be using the control:

    Inneractive.Ad.dll
    Microsoft.Advertising.Mobile.dll
    Microsoft.Advertising.Mobile.UI.dll
    Microsoft.Phone.Controls.Toolkit.dll
    Microsoft.Xna.Framework.dll

My guess right now is that some component in Microsoft.Phone.Controls.Toolkit.dll might be using Bing Maps. But my app is certainty not using it. How do I get around this?

  • Check your apps capabilities in the manifest maybe you checked maps in there

  • Same problem, it looks like Microsoft.Advertising.Mobile.UI.dll references Microsoft.Phone.Controls.Maps.dll and automatic certification algorithm now detects this reference even though maps are not specified in the manifest and not used in the code.

Deleting Microsoft.Phone.Controls.Maps.dll from XAP and AppManifest.xaml does not help.

    Still looking for workaround.

  • Ken  Tucker:

I do not see any Bing Maps related capabilities in the manifest.

Ok this could be the problem then. This needs to be fixed ASAP.

    Do anyone know a workaround?
