DirectX/XAML In Surfacr RT(Direct3D feature levels 9_1) , Can I draw Mesh of 2 million in Windows RT ?

    Question

  • Becuse of Surface RT ,  Feature Levels of DirectX is 9_1. Look at the table below.

    Input assembler index buffer resources

DXGI format Equivalent Direct3D 9 format Supported feature levels
    DXGI_FORMAT_R32_UINT D3DFMT_INDEX32 9_2 and higher
    DXGI_FORMAT_R16_UINT D3DFMT_INDEX16

    9_1 and higher

When I have the file that include index about 2 million .

I can't use _INDEX32 because of Windows RT only support Feature Levels 9.1 .

So, How to draw this case?

  • I am afraid that you may have to scale down your mesh model to cater for the under-featured Surface RT. Or you may choose to skip some underpowered devices when you submit your app to Windows store by specifying system requirements of your app.
