Visual Studio update 3 command line installation

    Question

  • I have downloaded vs_professional.exe from:

    https://download.microsoft.com/download/5/8/9/589A8843-BA4D-4E63-BCB2-B2380E5556FD/vs_professional.exe

What is the /InstallSelectableItems parameter for "Visual Studio 2015 Update 3"?

EDIT: For example, to install all Visual C++ features, you would write /InstallSelectableItems NativeLanguageSupport_Group

  • It's for installing optional features via command line.

  • Hi Shelly,

    Welcome to the MSDN forum.

When you install Visual Studio from a command prompt, you can use the command-line parameters “/InstallSelectableItems <item name 1>[;<item name 2>]” to list of selection tree items to check on the selection screen of the installer wizard.

    >> What is the /InstallSelectableItems parameter for "Visual Studio 2015 Update 3"?

Please have a look at this: How to: Create and Run an Unattended Installation of Visual Studio, to do this, you need first create the AdminDeployment.xml file by using the /CreateAdminFile <file location> command-line parameter. I have tried to use this parameter ‘/CreateAdminFile’ to create the AdminDeployment.xml file and open it, it looks like the ‘SelectableItemCustomization Id="xxxxxxxx"’ like the following is the parameter for the /InstallSelectableItems.

    Best regards,

    Sara
