Why is the built-in Web Browser for Windows Form using IE but can't display normal websites IE can? RRS feed

  • What if with: The Question, and the Problem

So say I used the Web Browser item to make a very basic twitch.tv client. I run the project and it goes to twitch.tv ok AT FIRST. When it loads in it starts displaying Script Errors, like this:

Line 304: "run" is not defined

    Error 899

Keep running scripts on this page?

    YES NO

If you continue loading the scripts, the page won't load correctly.

It does say the web browser is IE, but IE doesn't display this error. It loads Twitch JUST FINE! It might be that it's using a special version of IE, but I don't see why Microsoft wouldn't use IE 11. Someone please explain this to me. Have a nice day everyone!

  • Hi Wackyduck,

The .Net WebBrowser control emulates IE7 by default, even though we're now up to IE 11.

More details you can refer to this document.

[Web Browser Control & Specifying the IE Version]

You can emulate a newer version of IE through the CrazyPennie`s  code example.
