    1) Are you seeing this error all of a sudden or is this error happening from time SSMS is installed?

    2) Can you try repairing SSMS?

    3) Can you try installing SSMS 18.2 and see if it works?

  • Hello,

    I am getting the below error while opening an SSMS on windows 2012 R2. This node is part of the cluster and SQL role working fine on this node. Only problem is, it is throwing an error as below while we are trying to  to launch SSMS.

    "rovider dll failed to initialize correctly (exception from HResult: 0x8009001D)"

    What is the version of your SSMS? Did you have try the suggestion that Vivek mentioned?  Please share us the result that whether they works well.
