Does Azure AD Premium include ADFS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • The wording is a bit vague but I believe Azure AD Premium does not include ADFS or those features.  Can someone verify for me?  Thanks.

  • Azure AD Premium is a Azure AD Service based offering that provides a set of more advanced features to help empower enterprises with more demanding identity and access management needs.  The detailed listing can be obtained here -http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn532272.aspx

ADFS is a Server role for Windows Server and is not a part of the Azure AD Premium service per se. There are some features in Azure AD Premium that can enhance the SSO with an on premises federation solution such as  ADFS.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

If you are referring for Azure Active directory and since ADFS is used to provide users with single sign-on access to systems and applications located across organizational boundaries, you may refer following link for single sign-on authentication over Azure AD:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/dn151790.aspx

    http://azure.microsoft.com/blog/2012/08/06/implementing-single-sign-on-with-windows-azure-active-directory/

However, If you are using a Azure Virtual machine and hosting the Active Directory in there, you may refer the following link to deploy Windows Server ADFS on Azure VM:
