    Make sure fireawall is open for the URL server and PORT. Use following telnet command

    for http ::

    telnet 100.111.1.1 80

    for https ::

    telnet 100.111.1.1 443

    Hi,

    Is it give you the same error if you try to browse the web service from the browser (using web service URL) ? or Check your web service path in Local browser, is it will show the web service class name or not? If you get the same error when you execute the webservice path in your local system then you need to check the permissions. If you are behind proxy / firewall, try adding the following settings in the web.config.

    <system.net>
        <defaultProxy>
          <proxy usesystemdefault="False"
                 proxyaddress="Specify Your Proxy Address: Specify Port Number"
    bypassonlocal="False"/>
        </defaultProxy>
      </system.net>

    Hope this helps

    Best regards,
    Peter

    Sorry, just to make sure I understand you correctly : you get this error messag when you call the service on the Win2K8 machine from your client pc?

    Did you configure the application containing the web service correctly? (see http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/280137/How-To-Deploy-a-Web-App-in-IIS
