What is the version number of Windows Server 2012R2 OS? RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the HCK kit, the OS version of Server 2012 R2 release preview build is just displayed as V6.2 which is similar to Windows Server 2012 OS. Is that fine or the server 2012 R2 OS will have the OS information as V6.3 as like for Windows 8.1?

  • I downloaded a VHD image from the listed link and installed a HCK 2.1 client on it.

    • HCK Manager shows the OS as: Windows V6.3
    • HCK Studio shows the platform as: Windows Server v6.3

Did you have a previous OS install on this system, with the HCK client installed?  Its possible that the client entry in the DB hasn't been updated with the new installs information.

Assuming you have no data associated with that client entry try:

    1. Turn off the test system.
    2. Use HCK studio to delete the client entry. (configuration, machine management)
    3. Boot the test system.
    4. Look at the 'Default Pool'.

You should see the test system show up in the default pool with the proper identification.

  • Hello David,

Thanks a lot for the response. But we have downloaded the Server 2012R2 OS from the below link (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/evalcenter/dn205286.aspx?CR_CC=200142594) and we scheduled HCK tests using the kit V2.1. In the HCK server, the client machine details is displayed as Windows Server 2012 only and not V6.3. Kindly let me know where this is getting wrong. Is it due to HCK kit that is displaying the wrong client machine details in the studio?
