Navagation Form subform error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a form with an embedded macro in the On Load property that I want to add to a navigation form in Access 2013. When I try to open the form as a sub-form I get an error message that says the form doesn’t have a data source but it does. It is a query... qryWords. The macro selects a word group of words that I want to be displayed when the form opens. The macro uses ApplyFilter and here are the contents… [qryWords]![WordGroup]="1". The form works correctly when opened outside of the Navigation Form.

Any suggestions as to how I can fix this issue?

  • Hi,

When you insert a form within a Navigation Form, it is treated as a subform. So, if you have any code that reference the form directly, you will have to modify it to reference the form as a subform instead. For example, let's say you have something that looks like this:

    Forms!FormName.ControlName

    As a subform, that becomes:

    Forms!MainFormName.SubformControlname.Form!ControlName

    Hope that helps...
