WDK 8 does not install all include files!! RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate installed in a Win7 SP1 system. I then installed the WDK 8 (downloaded from microsofts web site), the instalation occured smoothly, no errors. I am developing a NDIS 6 driver, and when I tried to build it, it would not recognize many header files, mostly from the NDIS api. I then check the folders of installations and only three folders were installed under Windows Kits\8.0\Include: shared, um and winrt.

The header files I need are not in any of those folders.

Before I had a VS2013 Ultimate trial version with WDK 8.1 installed, the trial time ran up so I uninstalled it and installed the VS2012. What can be the problem??

Answers

  • it sounds like the 8.0 and 8.1 installs interfered with each other. open add/remove programs, choose the win8 wdk and select the repair option. see if the km directory is written
