prevent user from seeing the sensitive info of the olap connection? RRS feed

  • hi all,

    i would like to add a workbook connection by program, so the use can use it to create a pivot table. while how can i prevent the user from seeing the sensitive info(say user name&password) included in the connection string?

  • Hi Andrew,

    When you create a connection to OLAP database, there is a attribute named "Security Info" which indicate how the security information stored. You can specify this with True value to promote the user input his/her user id and password to access the database.

  • Hi Galvin,

    I can NOT find the attribute named "Security Info" but a attribute named "Persist Security Info". and according to the BOL (see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/microsoft.analysisservices.adomdclient.adomdconnection.connectionstring.aspx), it does NOT indicating that specifying this as True will prompt the user to input userid/password.
