    Hello all,

I create a basic ASP.NET 1.1 application and a grant the ASPNET user account with all rights on the application folder for special needs of my website.

It works fine on IE in localhost, but on Firefox and on other web browser not on the server, the server required an authentification.

    Any ideas ?

First off, the word is "authentication".     : )

Second, make sure IIS is set to allow Anonymous access for the site and that IUSR_yourservername has NTFS Read and Execute permissions on the root folder and content.  The ASPNET account is not at all involved in this ...

Anonymous acces is enable and my IUSR_servername has Read and Execute permissions on the root and all content of my website.

The configuration is the same as other applications on this server. Other applications work fine.

    Thanks for your help.

What happens if you test with an htm in the same folder?

I download the HTML code of the page, but the browser requires a windows authentication for accessing to image, css, javascript ressources.

I check the rights on the previous document and folder : ASPNET and IUSR_servername have Read and Execute rights.

So the htm loads without requiring a logon?

Are the other resources in a different folder?

What version of IIS are you on?

I'm having the same problem, where Firefox asks for authentication but not IE. I'm using IIS 6.0.

Is IIS set for only Windows Integrated/Anonymous?  If so, allow Basic.

It sounds like either a permissions issue as Tom mentioned.  Have you ran Filemon or looked in the event logs to see what files are being denied.  Secondly this potentially because of the Security Zone you are running in has more permissions locally than when running either firefox or IE remotely.  I'm not sure if Firefox has some options not enabled but that could be the reason.  Most likely its file permissions.  Filemon and auditing are tools to help eliminate this.
