Can I use an unused Visual Studio Pro 2015 licence to activate Visual Studio Pro 2013? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have some in house software libraries and applications that are only guaranteed to run with applications developed in versions of Visual Studio up to 2013 Pro.  Our suppliers can only get hold of licenses for Visual Studio Pro 2015.

Once I've downloaded the VS Pro 2013 installer and got things going on my server will I be able to activate successfully using the 2015 licenses or do I need to apply for downgrade licenses, and if so where can I do this?

First time poster, sorry if this has been answered somewhere else, I couldn't find it.

  • No. You need a Visual Studio Pro 2013 license key. I think you should consider obtaining an MSDN subscription, with gives you keys to both versions, as well as earlier versions of Visual Studio.
