minifying Sharepoint's CSS and Js

Hello,

we are thinking of minifying Sharepoint's CSS files (like core.css) and JS files (init.js).

We know that any update will override them, but netherless we could do it again.

IS it a good practise?
Will they be any unpleasent side effects?

Hi Christos,

Microsoft does not recommend to modify the default SharePoint files(e.g. default.master, core.css, etc.), all modifications on default files will be removed by any update, a good practise is that you can use a custom master page and reference custom CSS and JS files(e.g. minified core.css and init.js), it will not be overrided by any update, here is a similar post,
