VHD: Is there any way to auto mount it?

    Question

  • Is there any way to auto mount a vhd on a computer startup? Windows 8 will not boot up because i have to log on to windows 7 and keep mounting it.
I love testing out very buggy systems. Favorite OS: Windows Whistler. Consoles: Xbox 360, Wii, PSP, Gamecube, PC

  • Not sure I completely understand your setup?

If you are booting the Win 8 DP then you can use the new PowerShell commands to mount and dismount VHDs.

    - mount-vhd x:\path\vhdname

    - dismount-vhd x:\path\vhdname

(script would have to run elevated)

If its a Win 7 system booting up first then you can use a diskpart script

    - text file with SELECT VDISK FILE=”x:\path\vhdname” ATTACH VDISK

    - “diskpart -s text file name
