Bing Maps on Lenovo android tablet RRS feed

  • Question

  • Sorry to crash this thread but ... On my 2 year old lenovo android tablet I can't ask a new question.

I can type in the title bar but when I go to the body the keyboard disappears.

    The question would have been

How do I get to bingmaps on my 2 year old android tablet please?

When I open bing maps these days I get

    https://www.bing.com/mapspreview/sharing

    and a message "

The new Bing Maps Preview is not yet available on your browser.

You can access Bing Maps Preview from Internet Explorer 10 or 11, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome using a PC or tablet, or Safari using a Mac.

    Continue to current Bing Maps

    with a link...

    https://www.bing.com/maps/?   "

    which opens as https://www.bing.com/mapspreview/sharing

which gives me the same message.

Is there another link which takes me to the old maps?

  • This sounds like a question related to the Bing Maps consumer site. These forums are for the Bing Maps developer API's which are quite different.

That said, I have used the new site a bit and have some experience with it. The new consumer site is built on top of HTML5. I suspect the issue you are running into is that the version of your browser has limited HTML5 support.

Not sure why you are hitting the URL: https://www.bing.com/mapspreview/sharing as the sharing bit is only used if you are sharing a map view which usually has a lot more information on the end of the URL. Try connecting to http://bing.com/maps directly as that is the main URL. The first time it will likely try and show you the preview site, but after clicking the link it should take you to the old site.

  • I can reproduce your issue on a Lenovo tablet.

I have a rather older nook, which is also an android tablet.

Using chrome I googled bing maps and hit the top link.

It works on my device, using the url:

    https://www.bing.com/mapspreview

    Which is kind of weird.

Google maps works on our Lenovo though.

    Maybe you should use that.

    .

    PS

This is the Silverlight forum and bing maps is not Silverlight.

    Hope that helps.
