How to extend Windows 2016 server evalaution period without running into Error 0x80070005 Access Denied Error RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I am trying to extend the evaluation period of Windows Server 2016 standard,
which has expired. I am logged in as administrator, but when I do SLMGR /REARM
at a command prompt I get the error 0x80070005 Access Denied: the requested
action requires elevated privileges. Any suggestions? Please!

  • Did you open an elevated command prompt.

And, there is a limit to the number of re-arms.  To prevent you from doing that forever.

And I don't recall that you can reset the 180 day timer for evaluation - only move to a real license.

If this is development you should apply an MSDN license. If it was in production, again, a license.
