Windows Hibernation? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have general question related to Windows hibernation.

I know that if I hibernate windows and then restart then windows use hiberfil.sys and start windows with the previous state stored in hiberfil.sys.

I am trying to find where I can start Windows explicitly with particular set of hiberfil.sys and does windows give option to me during startup that use particular hiberfil.sys file.

Basically I would like to have multiple hibernation state stored on disk or external devices and I would be able to choose any of previously stored state to restart Windows. I am looking for this options I do not see I can hibernate particular process and resume it when need. With this I can hibernate windows with
running particular processes and hibernate in different file.

Also can I hibernate windows without completely shutting it down?
