azcopy for B2B file transfer/SFTP RRS feed

  • Question

  • Instead of using SFTP to transfer B2B files, could we use azcopy? Your partner just need to get an access key to the container, right?

  • Are you looking to get files from the customer/user or other palace to work a case, or is this a solution proposal for the customers/user issue?

Step-By-Step: Using AzCopy to Transfer Files to Azure

AzCopy is a command-line utility designed for copying data to/from Microsoft Azure Blob, File, and Table storage, using simple commands designed for optimal performance. You can copy data between a file system and a storage account, or between storage accounts.

  • I know how to use azcopy. It is a design question/solution proposal. It is a trade-off comparison between SFTP and AXCOPY in the context of B2B file transfer.

Azcopy is a good alternative from SFTP, when copying from/to Azure Blob, file storage and Table.
Azcopy is secure and uses MD5 when copying objects.  It also depends on the how large the data you are trying to transfer and to which region you are planning to move the data etc... If you don't have any timeline pressure, azure copy would be your best bet. Here are other methods that you may want to check as well: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/storage/common/storage-moving-data
