redistributing .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 update from KB959209 RRS feed

  • Question

  • We distribute the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 with our application.  Are we also allowed to distribute the updates noted in KB959209?

Since the question is a license issue, you can call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist, and you can get more detail information from there. Worldwide customers can use the Guide to Worldwide Microsoft Licensing Sites to find contact information in their locations: http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/

    Thanks.

  • Just to clarify, we distribute by using the full ~240Mb dotnetfx35.exe installer, not using the bootstrapper the downloads from the internet.  Ideally, we would also then install the proper updates downloaded from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/959209/, just wanted to make sure that was OK to distribute those updates as well.

  • Great, thanks!  Not to be a huge annoyance, but would it be possible for you to point me to where in the license it says it's OK to redistribute these updates.  The EULA for the updates seem like the standard MS update license, would it be somewhere in our development license?  Again, not trying to be a pain, just trying to cover myself legally.

  • Thank you.  (Would've marked this as answered but was out of office for the past couple of days).
