Availability of MSF Standard Edition? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have an offshore development team who'd like to use Solver Foundation to implement a linear fit for a minima in a C# app they're building for us.

I'm concerned about this choice since MSF's been "dead" since 2012 and I can't seem to find an installer for the standard edition anywhere in my MSDN / Visual Studio portal.  Can't really use the Express Edition (which I /can/ find a .msi for) since redistribution isn't part of the licensing.

    1) Can anyone direct me to a functional, Microsoft-hosted installer for the 3.1 Standard Edition?

    2) Is there a general trend toward a Solver-esque library in active development with commercial-friendly license terms? (BSD or better)

  • 1) I haven't looked in a long time, but I don't think there is one anymore.

    2) You'd have to look around. I recall there being other libraries/companies out there that had plugins for MSF. Gurobi comes to mind, but it's been quite some time. Most of them were paid from what I recall.

Hopefully this helps and good luck on your project.
