  • Hi Kim,

If want to develop only applications (windows forms or Silverlight apps or Sql server compact), we DON'T need the Windows Embedded Compact 7. For this, we NEED ONLY the Windows Embedded Compact 7 ATL Update for Visual Studio 2008 SP1.

I Solve this problem (cannot see Create Platform Builder Subproject in VS) : RE-INSTALLING Windows 7 64 bits, and first installing Visual Studio 2008 / VS 2008 SP1, ATL Update, Sync Framework, and so on.

Everything is perfect now. VS2010 and VS2008, Embedded Application Development, Blend 3 with Silverlight Embedded ALL perfect.

If you need to create Embedded System, like eBox 3310, Reserve a Computer or a Hard Disk or a VHD only for this purpose.

    best regards

  • Antinio,

I am having the same problem. The "Create Platform Builder Subproject" menu item in Visual Studio 2008 does not show the wizard dialogbox. I have re-installed CE7 4 times without fixing this issue. My co-worker has it working, so he adds the sub-projects, then copies the project to me.

We are both running Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition with SP1.

I have also uninstalled just the the Windows Embedded Silverlight Tools and re-installed it again as well without success.
