Visual Studio on No-Internet computers

    Question

  • Hi Everyone,

Our company develops software on computers which are not allowed to connect to the Internet.

We would like to upgrade and start working with Visual Studio 2015, but in order for it to remain operational the computers have to connect to the Internet from time to time for license checking. As I wrote above - this is impossible.

We have been a Microsoft Silver Partner for about 5 years, and do not think we should pay extra for an offline license for using Visual Studio 2015.

Does anybody know if there is a way to around this?

Does Microsoft have any solution which does not include paying extra fees on top of the Partner fees?

    Thank you.

  • Hi Peshko,

Since the question is a license issue, you can call 1-800-426-9400, Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. (Pacific Time) to speak directly to a Microsoft licensing specialist, and you can get more detail information from there. You can also visit the following site for more information and support on licensing issues:

    http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/mplahome.mspx

In addition, as far as I know, the VS2015 community was free, but it will require us to sign in with the Microsoft account, so I'm afraid that it would require the network. Maybe you could call a support from the license team for dedicated support.

    Thanks,

    Jack
