Resource Governor in Enterprise Edition RRS feed

  • Question

  • Has anyone out there used the resource governor with any spatial stuff?  I am wondering about building spatial indexes, and possibly running some expensive intersection queries.

  • I've used resource governor and I've used spatial but I've never used them "together" as such.

The resource governor classifies incoming requests (i.e. queries) to the database depending on factors such as the user that submitted the request, or the application that made the connection. It then places the request into one of a number of workload groups that determines things like how much processor and memory is allocated to fulfil that request. This applies to any sort of connection, whether it's going to be running a spatial query, rebuilding an index, loading a table etc. so I'm not quite sure how using RG with spatial is going to be any different from using RG generally...
