Kinect 2 for Windows is not recognised after installing KinectSDK-v2.0-PublicPreview1407-Setup.exe RRS feed

  • Question

  • After receiving my Kinect 2 today I tried plugging it in after installing KinectSDK-v2.0-PublicPreview1407-Setup.exe as suggested on the Kinect Website and every time I plug it in I get:

    USB device not reconized

The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned,

and Windows does not recognize it.

I went out and purchased a new USB PCI card assuming there was an incompatibility issue with my ASUSTeK Z87-A    Rev 1.xx motherboard but got exactly the same result.  Is the Kinect defective?

  • So.. after alot of fiddling I found that I was plugging the Kinect into everything but the USB3 ports on my machine.  Once I plugged it into the USB3 port it worked fine.  It would be nice if the error message simply stated that a USB3.0 connection was required.  It was also not all that clear from the documentation that this was USB3 only device, but perhaps I didn't look hard enough.

    All working now. Thanks.

  • Is the PCIx card v2.0 and plugged into a v2.0 enabled PCIx slot? Additionally, is the USB chipset Intel or Renesas.
