Master Data Services- data push back to excel sheet RRS feed

  • Question

  • We  already integrated different client data to MDS with the help MS Excel plugin, now we want to push back updated or     new added record to source database. is it possible do using MDS?  Do we have any background sync process to which automatically sync data to and from subscriber and MDS?

  • You would typically use SSIS for this, extracting from the Subscription Views in the MDS database and loading into the target.  If the target database is on the same SQL instance, you can use a stored procedure instead.

  • I need to push back the data into same excel sheet which was the source initially for the subscription view. I will be adding a new column to the existing excel sheet and then push the data back to same excel.

    Thanks

  • Hi Prath,

According to your description, you need to refresh data (MDS Add-in for Excel), right?

In Master Data Services Add-in for Excel, refresh data when you want to get the latest information. You can refresh either all cells or a selection of cells. This can be useful when you have inserted columns with custom formulas or other data that is not managed in MDS and you want to preserve it.
