Azure FileStorage access through secure way RRS feed

  • Question

  • I tried to map Azure FilesStorage as the network drive but failed because in organisation port 445 is blocked. All traffic on FileStorage via port 445. WanaCry also coming through 445.

Is there any secure way to access Azure FileStorage  for end users since users looking easy solution to dump bulk data like drag and drop?

  • If 445 port is blocked. Use Block blob storage to store and retrieve the data. It uses 443 port to download and upload the files. You can use Storage Explorer to conveniently download and upload the files.

    Get started with Storage Explorer

  • If using Blob storage the limit is 500TB per account, for Azure Files it is 5TB per share.

  • @Cloudy Boy - Yes, you can access File Storage from the Storage Explorer pane as well. However, I suggest you go through this announcement that was made after the WannaCrypt ransomeware attack and take the necessary action described therein to protect your infrastructure from such attacks.
