kinect sdk reference in windows store app develepment RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

I am building a windows 8 store app. That uses kinect sensor to take gesture input from the user. The issue that I am facing is that when I reference kinect API to the project, I get the following error:

"A reference to Microsoft.Kinect.dll" could not be added. The project targets '.NET Core' while the the file reference targets '.NET Framework'. This is not a supported scenario"

Need urgent help in this regard.

  • I didn't know you could use the Kinect sensor in a Windows Store App, none of the tablets I have seen have one.

I don't think you can use a normal tablet camera as a sensor.

With all the restrictions of windows store apps personally I wouldn't have even tried and assumed you can't but i'm not an expert so someone else would know more.

  • The Kinect SDK is not supported in Windows Store apps. You will need to write your Kinect app as a desktop app.
