Jquery/ASP/Access Phone dir RRS feed

    Hi all, my brother asked me to create a javascript phone directory for his works intranet, I am creating it using Jquery, but the problem is i know nothing about ASP or Access Databases, I know it would be easy to do by linking into PHP/mySQL via ajax, but could somebody help me out on what the equivilent, the results are auto updated after each letter is entered and obviously i would need to find the number of results for each of the three filters, plus pull the full data for the current filter, any help would be much appreciated

    You should start here: http://www.asp.net/web-pages/tutorials. And don't use Access . Use SQL Server Compact instead. It's free and file based, but it is supported in a Web scenario.

    Howdy Mike, I actually figured it out, sadly the company uses what they use I have no power to change them, but I found out that I could bypass ASP and Access altogether and used http://accessdb.sourceforge.net/ to access the .mdb file directly, it only works in Internet Explorer but luckily the company uses that browser as standard, so all is good, If they ever needed to change broswers i should be able to find and ASP file that converts output to JSON without to much problem, thanks for replying though, it's more then most of the people here did :-)

    That's dead easy: http://www.mikesdotnetting.com/Article/160/WebMatrix-Working-With-The-JSON-Helper, and you can use Access with WebMatrix.
