  • Use the Remote Debugging feature in Visual Studio. It's explained on http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/hh441469.aspx. Note that the link to the remote debugging tools on that page are broken. Use http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=255953 instead.

The article says "The remote device and the Visual Studio computer must be connected over a network or connected directly through an Ethernet cable. Debugging over the internet is not supported." The "network" here includes WiFi as well as an Ethernet cable. I've been debugging over WiFi without a problem.

  • I have notice yhen connected my surface slate over WIFi, from my slate I can ping my dev machine but from my dev machine I cannot ping my slate. I have verify that both have same ip range, mask and belongs to same workgroup

Any idea why I cn't ping the slate from dev machine but works in reverse?

  • Is the dev machine might be domain joined? That could affect pinging. Could also be something in the router.

Can you ping the machines with the IP address directly? Beyond that I don't have much experience in solving such networking issues.
