Every boot with EWF enabled causes message: 'Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might...' RRS feed

  • Question

  • After enabling EWF,  every boot causes message:  'Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might...'

EXCEPT when we commit changes prior to restarting it boots OK once, then every subsequent boot we get the error message.

Our work around is to set the timeout to 5 seconds, so we don't waste any time and the system just does a normal boot.

Anyone else seen this faulty operation?  The point here is that with the EWF running we should have a locked down OS partition.  I've been working XP embedded since '05 and we've never  seen this problem with XPE, but now we're seeing this with WES7 64bit.

  • haven't seen this. Is there a problem with a device driver? Can you disable EWF, do two reboots and then re-enable to see what happens?

    Why not use FBWF?
