List databases actively being used possible? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

Is there a way to get Sharepoint 2010 to list all the databases that are actively in use? I think I have some databases on the server that are old and not used anymore by Sharepoint. I was gonna go ahead and clean them up from the server.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

Check in Central Admin. under Application Management --> Manage content Databases. This will give you the actual content Databases use in your SharePoint Farm.

Then, Still under Application Management --> Manage Service Applications, highlight each service, and click Properties. this will give you the all the Services Databases use.

The only databases left then will be the SharePoint Config and the SharePoint Central Admin.

SharePoint keep persistent connection with SQL, you could check also what are the database activities in SQL Management console.
