    Question

  • Can it be installed via Office, like an option or it only thru the redistributable package in the link below?

  • Hi Twistur,

Thank you for posting in the MSDN Forum.

As far as I know, Microsoft Access Database Engine was included in Office suite. You'll get it if you install Office.

    Best regards,

Thanks Quist. Does this apply to the 64bit too?

  • Hi all,

Sorry to jump in, but twistur you are right that we can only install the Microsoft Access Database Engine through the redistributable package in the link as you metioned:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=13255

If you'd like to package it with your Office installation, we can add it in a MSP file using the Add installations and run programs feature in the Office Customization Tool (OCT).

Read the detail steps in the following support article:

Run arbitrary commands with installations of Office 2010

  • Thanks Max.

Our team has decided to stick with ACE.12 for the time being but we're still apprehensive about the installation scenario. How is ACE.12 installed? Does it come with Access 2007 and higher?

I'm looking for an MSDN documentation on this just to appease our stakeholders. I would appreciate if you could point me to one.

    Thanks again.

  • Hi twister, I tried looking over but couldn't find any documentation which suggest the same. . .
