Migration Upgrade do the servers need to be named the same?

Question
-
We will be doing a migration upgrade where we will move the existing DBs to a new set of hardware and upgrade them to TFS2010 do the servers need to be named the same or the Accounts used need to be named the same? We might have to have both the old system and the new system2010 up at the same time so if the above is required not sure how we would do that.
Further our current virtual DNS for our TFS2008 system is http://TFSSERVER we will like to move the server names that it currently points to, to our new TFS2010 system. Obviously anyone left on that old 2008 system will have to change their source control pointing to continue to work on that old system. Does anyone see any problems with that? Thanks for your replies.

Hi brthomas,
Thanks for the post. To upgrade the existing TFS 2008 to TFS 2010, all you need is a full backup of the TFS 2008 databses. You coudl do, what is called a Migration upgrade where you restore a copy of TFS 2008 databases to a SQl 2008 instance and run the TFS 2010 upgrade wizard to upgrade. Server names need not be the same. For details on Migration upgrade, you could see details on: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/tfssetup/archive/2010/03/01/tfs-2010-quick-peak-on-tfs-2008-to-tfs-2010-upgrade-migration-upgrade.aspx
Hope this helps! Thanks,
