SMTP Virtual Server not starting after a reboot RRS feed

  • Question

  • Trying to find the root cause of this issue on Windows Server 2012 R2.

During an upgrade of a server application the SMTP service was stopped. Followed later by a server reboot.
As you can see in the screenshot, the SMTP Service is set to automatic and it is in the running state.
But email was still just accumulating the Pickup folder. After opening the IIS6 Management Console.
Found that the SMTP Virtual Server was stopped.  Could not find any errors in the event log as to why.
