I never use any purchased templates, etc. I create my own rounded corner images, then I create a
page, then just use Save As for each additional page needed,

Kim - if you're looking to do rounded corners - none of the big WYSIWYG
programs come with those type sof templates yet. It usually requires nested
DIVs or other. YOu can find some good examples here though:
    http://css-discuss.incutio.com/?page=RoundedCorners

I use them on my site because my designer insisted on them :)

You can buy templates in lots of places. Dreamweaver comes with less than
EWD has and this IS a an early beta product. I'm surprised it has as many as
it does. I've got a tutorial on rounded corners in FrontPage, and
instructions on how to create your own (which would work equally well in
EWD I should think) and a review of a third party program that creates
rounded corners over in the tutorials section of
    http://mvp.wiserways.com

If you start with any high quality page you can easily turn it into a DWT.
The process in EWD is the same as in FrontPage. (There is a tutorial on
creating DWTs in FrontPage there as well.)

You have to create an image that has the rounded corners or purchase a template that comes with the
    images.

Look at this one: No graphics, pure XHTML:

    http://www.sovavsiti.cz/css/corners.html

So this should be easy for the smart guys on EWD team to include in a
    template.

Meanwhile I have to go find some site to add this too.

    Kimb,
If you look close at this page you will see that the graphics are listed
in the style section. This makes the body code look cleaner, but the
graphics files must still be included...in this case they are in the <style>
    section.

Although it still uses images, I think most of us here find it more pratical
to use CSS styling to create corners verus using tables. As Cary said, it
does create a much cleaner look in the body code.

I believe EWD templates would greatly be enchance if they add 10-12 types of
    templates with corners.

As for incorporating a CSS rounded corner tool soft of like the FP2003 table
layout tool, I would think it would be a bit more involved in implementing
this. The question is, do they want to add it?

    Kim,

I should have mentioned that you can use the same method in EWD to create
rounded corner layouts as those shown in the FP tutorial including having
EWD write the code for you but it will be nested table code which is what
Microsoft uses on the EWD site you referenced in your review.

BTW, thank you for mentioning my site in your review.

Very interesting! I didn't know that was in my FP2003 all this time:

FP2003 has the ability to create round-corner tables (layout tables). I
presume EWD will eventually include something similar.

Its already there but still uses nested tables, hopefully the EWD team will
update it to CSS rounded corners.

  • I tried this feature out in FP2003, but can't seem to adjust the header / footer smaller than 19, what am I missing?

  • I'll second the Nifty Corners approach, just css and javascript: http://www.html.it/articoli/niftycube/index.html

  • You can certainly use CSS/HTML alone for the rounded corners instead of images.

Try these links to learn how it's done:

You have to create an image that has the rounded corners or purchase a template that comes with the
    images.

Thomas, what are you using or what do you suggest to use to create the 'rounded-cornered' edged images? Also, can the same program be used for creating rounded-edged buttons?
