Cannot deploy twice in Azure App Service linux RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

App is in .net core 3.1, build and published via Azure DevOps, deployed via Azure DevOps to an Azure App Service Linux. This is a self contained package targetting linux-x64.

App deploys fine on a fresh app service.

Second deployment fails with little details:

2019-12-18T09:57:04.7629017Z Package deployment using ZIP Deploy initiated.
    2019-12-18T10:17:29.2425405Z Fetching changes.

2019-12-18T10:17:30.2886618Z An unknown error has occurred. Check the diagnostic log for details.
2019-12-18T10:17:30.2967444Z ##[error]Failed to deploy web package to App Service.
2019-12-18T10:17:30.2980136Z ##[error]Error: Package deployment using ZIP Deploy failed. Refer logs for more details.

When looking at the deployment logs:

    [{"log_time":"2019-12-18T10:17:32.6077501Z","id":"558d345c-4d53-4cba-b06e-5bbb2c2d7fe0","message":"Deployment failed.","type":2,"details_url":null}]

What can I do to fix the situation? Thanks!

  • Thanks for asking question! Could you please confirm on which App Service plan you are using? Also you may check the Kudu Console to look at the files in your wwwroot folder. It lets you easily download everything in that folder as a zip file, so that you can analyze it locally.

  • Hi,

I use a S1 App Service Plan with Linux.

In wwwroot folder, via Kudu, I see the files deployed the first time, nothing more.

  • Thanks for the response! If I have understood right on wwwroot folder, via Kudu only first deployment files are there and not Second one. If so, could you please take a look on the deployment script of Second one.

  • Hi,

By 2nd deployment I mean the 2nd time I deploy a package, like a new build of the same app, using the same pipeline/scripts.

Deployment fails with little details. See picture in first post.

Today it is ok, I did not change anything anywhere. This is bad for confidence.
