JOIN on JSON data: Stateful service RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

When we retrieve data from stateful service, it returns in JSON form, but when we attempt to join multiple list, it slows down drastically and impacts the performance, is there any other efficient method to join multiple list of data?

  • How do you know that the data is not being pulled from the service twice?

    1) Data is pulled using the initial Linq query.

    2) The result is iterated over again on the Linq OrderBy with each iteration possibly going back out to the service, since you never disconnected from the service.

IQueryable <UXWhatever> querylist = from blah blah

The IQuerable disconnects the list from the datasource.

You can also just close the connection.

Try it see what happens. I mention this, because this is something that is overlooked in using the Entity Framework when doing a Linq query, not disconnecting from the database and iterating over the results while in a connected state that reads the records again from the database.
